Most common issues

Tab not in the list

Was it a normal webpage? Chrome settings, New Tab, and extension pages are not captured. Open Recently Remembered to check — a missing toast does not mean capture failed.

No “Saved locally” toast

Toasts appear on another open page, not the tab you closed. They show for your first several closes, then at most once per day — and only on pages where the extension can run. If you do not see one, open Recently Remembered to confirm the capture.

Scroll looks wrong

Common on YouTube, X, and Notion. Use title, time on page, and highlighted text instead. See known limitations.

Permissions blocked

Reopen the side panel and tap Continue. Capture does not run until onboarding is complete.

Installation

Install links are sent by email to beta invitees when the Chrome Web Store listing is published. See closed beta to get in touch.

Requirements

Quick start

  1. Browse normally — capture runs when you close a tab, not while you read.
  2. Close a webpage when you are done with it.
  3. Open Browser Memory → Recently Remembered.
  4. Search, filter, or reopen as needed.

Open the side panel

Click the Browser Memory icon in the toolbar. You can also tap View on a capture toast when it appears.

What gets saved

When you close a tab or Chrome discards it (Memory Saver), we may save URL, title, domain, time on page, scroll (when available), highlighted text, and an optional note you add later.

Find and reopen

Export your data

Extension Options → Export all → JSON file downloads to your device.

Delete your data

Options → Delete all → confirm. Use this before uninstalling if you want captures removed.

More troubleshooting

Closed a tab but nothing appeared

First check the page type — restricted URLs are skipped by design. For a normal https page, reopen the side panel (it should refresh when a capture is saved). If you recently reloaded the extension in Chrome settings, refresh that webpage once before closing it again.

Side panel did not update

Close and reopen the panel. It should refresh automatically when a new capture is saved.

Errors after reloading the extension

If open pages show “extension context invalidated,” refresh those pages once. This is only needed after reloading the extension — not during normal daily use.
